Feng Tianqi is betrayed and shot by his men at a swimming pool, then travels back in time to become a crown prince in the Da Qian dynasty. Though he holds the title, he has no real power as the court is controlled by the Grand Tutor and Empress Dowager. With help from Eunuch Hai, he secretly builds his own forces, recruits the Lingyun Gang, plants his concubine as a spy near the Grand Tutor, and befriends General Dong Beihai. He gains the people's support through disaster relief work and successfully reclaims his throne when the Grand Tutor attempts to rebel.
