Su Wuming, a local official, is drawn into a series of kidnappings linked to an old mystery known as the 'Nine-Story Pavilion Case' by a mysterious man named Han Tang. The three victims—a jade merchant, a concubine, and an old pear seller—all once testified that Liu Rong, the wife of Official Han, murdered her husband. Su Wuming and the original judge, Du Chong, are drugged and taken to a creepy underground palace that replicates the Nine-Story Pavilion. Confronted by Han Tang and his twin brother Han Di, Su Wuming must unravel the trap, expose the flaws in the old testimonies, and finally uncover the truth.
